About the teachers
In September 2005 we have alist of 30 teachers, but the process of putting them all on this list is long and irregular + some don´t wish to appear on the web (and the teachers coordination is done voluntarily - thanks for your patience).
All teachers have to be active participants in PermaCulture and to have a considerable personal experience and practice to share.
It is preferable if they have a Permaculture Diploma, or are in the process of getting it.
If you think you should be on this list, or you know someone who should be on it, please let us know.
Our intention is to include and especially train more teachers, in the Canaries as in the Mainland.
In order to reach this aim, we offer to everyone interested the opportunity to participate as aprendices in the modules they know least, together with teachers who have more experience in the subject. In this way we create an ongoing training for all the people who are on this teachers list.
The criteria we use to unite teachers for a course are the following:
- each module is taught by two teachers + aprendices. one of these has to be a diplomat, or nearly, the other a specialist in the subject of the module, as a minimum requirement. All have to be practitioners in the subject of the module.
- we attempt to create a dinamic synergy for the whole course, uniting an interesting mix of teachers with a wide variety of experience, ages, sexes, interest focus, points of view and training
- we also try as much as possible to include local teachers, or who are very familiar with the particular subjects of interest to the group (if any)
- we give a warm welcome to aprendice teachers to participate in all the courses: they are the future of the Academy, and this is the best training available: it has to be totally practical.
- all of this of course is organized within the budget limits of the course, eg. the costs of travel are a factor which has to be taken into account - all that we do has to be sustainable.
If you are not already on our teachers´list, please get in touch - people with any experience in the subject are welcome, if they are practicing permaculture in their daily lives, have a passion for the subject and for transmiting it.
